The Press Discharge Cake Breaker

The Cake Breakers are designed to match our Press Range. In the case of our newer Sterling Series Presses the Breakers can be built integrally into the Press discharge chute. For other Presses and applications we do the standalone model  (shown). Normally would be mounted directly in the Press Discharge chute.

The working method and design of both types is essentially the same. Only the construction of the "Box" is changed.

In larger multi-Press plants on large Breaker or a set of dedicated rolls may be used to size the Cake. However in  the case of smaller or single Press plants then the integral Press Discharge Cake Breaker is a neat solution to the Problem of too large a cake partials.

 

 

 

Typically the Cake Breaker will be used in applications, where the press naturally produces Cake in very large sheets. Such as when processing Sunflower. These sheets once the start to cool can become very tough and make subsequent processing operation difficult. For example in a full Pressing operation handling and bagging of the Cake can become very difficult if the Cake pieces are too large. In the case of a Solvent extraction plant large sheets can give poor extraction results because of excessive solvent flow rates.


General Features of the Cake Breaker:

  • STAGGERED BREAKER BLADES: the staggered Breaker Blades minimise the shock loads on the Breaker shaft and help ensure a more even breaking of the Product.

  • SIMPLE, RUGGED AND RELIABLE: A simple design with the minimum of moving and wearing parts, makes for a rugged reliable Breaker that will cope with the most arduous of duties.

  • MAINTENANCE FRIENDLY: The Breaker has been  designed with reliability and ease of maintenance in mind, and to that end all components in contact with the process material can be quickly and easily replaced. 

  • QUALITY MANUFACTURE: All our Breakers are designed and manufactured to the highest standards. 

Design Summary:

Our Cake Breakers are either stand alone units as illustrated above or built into the Frame of the Press Both designs feature a rotating Breaker shaft mounted above a stationary Grid. The Grid is easily removed for cleaning or maintenance. The Cake is broken by a combination of direct impact with the rotating shaft and the scissor action of the stationary and rotating blades. 

The Gearbox is a shaft mounted torque type, this is a high efficiency unit and it is fitted, as standard, with large bearings that will withstand the shock loads generated by the breaking action. This arrangement eliminates the need for specialist alignment, making the Cake Breaker very simple to maintain.

All aspect of the Cake Breaker and its ancillaries are designed in accordance with all European and British Safety regulations.
