Details of the the Feeder

Back to Press Parts Menu

The Horizontal section of the Feeder will have a variable speed drive so that it can control the flow of feed into the Press.

The fixed speed Vertical Screw prevents bridging in the Cage Inlet and ensures that the feed passes into the Worm Assembly at an even rate. Although it may help with some de-airing of the feed in a modern Press the Vertical Conveyor is not normal designed to be a "Force Feeder"

As for all parts of the Press, the Feeder must run 24 Hours / Day, 7 days a week  for extended periods. The  Direct Drive arrangements are generally lower maintenance and more reliable than chain drives.

Check Points:

What service factor was used in the selection of the GMU's?

Has the Feeder Inlet been designed to meter a "flooded feed".

What Precautions have been  taken to prevent 'bridging' in the Feed Spout?
