The purpose of the Discharge End Bearing is to support the Shaft when the Press is running empty or under light load. Without a Bearing the Shaft will sag and the Worms will rub against the Cage linings, causing damage to both the Worm Assembly components and the Cage Linings. To be successful the Bearing needs to be effectively separated from the Hot Steam atmosphere that will exist at the Discharge End of the Press. |
Check Points:Is the Bearing separated from the hostile environment inside the Choke? Has allowance been made for Thermal expansion of the Shaft? |
