Details of the the Thrust Bearing Assy

Back to Press Parts Menu

The Thrust Bearing carries the Thrust Loads generated by the Press. These can be quite high, especially when full Pressing a fibrous feed material.

Like the Gearbox a 24Hr/day duty is required, and again the Bearings will last longest if they are operating in a cooler and cleaner environment. Locating the Thrust Bearing at the Feed End of the Press and external to the main Frame Body gives it the best working environment. The temperatures are lower here and there is less Pressure to force contaminants into the Thrust Housing.

If the Thrust Bearing is separated form the Gearbox Oil and located between the working areas of the Press and the Gearbox it provides a buffer zone to protect the more expensive Gearbox Internals from contamination.

Check Points:

Is the Thrust Bearing Large enough for the Thrust Loads that will be developed?

Has the Thrust Bearing been separated from the "Working" areas of the Press?

Can the Thrust Bearing Oil mix with the Oil from the main Gearbox?
