The Speciality Oil Industry

A Field of Rape Seed
The Raw Material in the Field

Oils extracted from Seeds and Nuts may be staple food stuffs but that is not the whole story. Oils have many varied properties and are to be found in may every day items from Soaps and Shampoos to Medicines and Technical Applications.

Some of these are required in bulk and are processed by the large commodity processors, for example High Euracic Acid, Rape Seed Oil used in chemical processes.

However, many are only available and wanted in much small quantities. Fortunately many of these products have a much higher unit value than the big bulk crops and it is possible to make a viable business out of processing them. This is the realm of the smaller Speciality Oil Producer.

Usually it is the Oil is the desired product and the Cake is simply sold to animal feeds. However sometimes cake with specific properties is required and the Oil becomes the By-Product. The final specification of a plant will depend on which is the desired product. and what pre-treatment is required to achieve it.

A Small Linseed Oil Crushing Plant

The smaller nature of the typical specialist processor makes mechanical extraction the best choice in many cases. When the demands are for higher quality oils rather than extracting ever last theoretic drop then again mechanical extraction with its chemical free nature again springs to the fore.

Rosedowns are specialists in mechanical extraction, our core products are Screw Presses and the wearing parts for them.  Indeed are Mini Press Range is designed with these smaller plants in mind and as those plants grow are Sterling Series provides a natural progression of plant sizes to meet all needs.

Mini Presses

With Throughputs from 40 to 500 Kg/Hr this range of Presses has been specially designed for smaller plants. They are ideal for processing small batches of higher value materials, stopping and starting easily in a  non continuous operation, they are never the less designed for the most arduous of continuous processing operations.

Mini Presses are designed to operate even on seed that has not had any  Pre-Treatment operations, they are the ideal choice for Cold Pressing Applications. However in a Mini Mill with Pre-Treatment or in a simple Double Pressing operation, the final residuals are as good as those from a conventional Full Pressing Application.

The equipment and process specification are matched to your required Duty, the Pressing operation may be Single Pressing or Double Pressing. But whatever the process requirement the concept is the same: self contained and simple.
